A coin flip is the simplest fair decision there is: two outcomes, equal odds, no room to argue. This tool tosses a virtual coin that lands on heads or tails with a true 50-50 chance, and it will also flip a whole batch at once and count how the results fell. People reach for it to settle a choice between two options, to decide who goes first, to break a deadlock in a group that has been going in circles, and to show a class what probability actually looks like when you stop theorising and start counting. No physical coin needed, which matters more often than you would think. The mechanism is a single random draw split down the middle. The browser returns a fractional value between 0 and 1; anything below 0.5 is called heads and anything from 0.5 upward is tails. That gives each side a clean 50% chance on every flip, and because each draw is independent, the previous result has no influence on the next one. When you flip a batch, the tool repeats that draw once per coin and tallies the two outcomes separately, which is what lets you watch the ratio settle. With ten flips the split can look wildly uneven; with a thousand it will hug 50-50 closely. That convergence is the law of large numbers, and seeing it happen live is far more convincing than being told about it. Try both modes. A single flip gives you one word, heads or tails, with an even chance either way — enough to decide who picks the restaurant or who takes the first turn. Now set the count to 100 and flip. You might get a tally of 52 heads and 48 tails. That is a four-flip gap on a hundred throws, roughly 52% versus 48%, and it is entirely normal; a perfectly even 50-50 split is actually less common than a small imbalance. Run another hundred and the gap will move again, sometimes wider, sometimes narrower, but the running percentage across all your flips will keep drifting closer to half. The real situations are small and everyday. Two housemates who both cooked last night flip to decide who does the dishes. A gully cricket captain flips for choice of innings when nobody brought a rupee coin. A hiring panel deadlocked between two equally strong candidates on a tie-breaking preference uses it for the coin-toss step their process actually specifies. A statistics teacher has thirty students each flip fifty coins, then pools the results on the board to show that 1,500 flips lands near half far more reliably than any single student's fifty did. One genuine caveat: a fair coin has no memory, and this is where most people go wrong. After five heads in a row, tails does not become more likely — the sixth flip is still 50-50. That mistaken feeling has a name, the gambler's fallacy, and it costs people real money at card tables. A coin flip is also only fair as a decision method when both outcomes are genuinely acceptable to you; if you would be upset by one result, you did not want a coin flip, you wanted permission. The flips use standard pseudo-random generation, which is fair for casual and educational use but not for anything requiring cryptographic security or money. And if you are flipping to settle something with another person, agree out loud which side belongs to whom before you tap, not after the result appears, because assigning meaning afterwards is how a fair method turns into a dispute.
