How the Dog Age Calculator Converts Dog Years to Human Years

The rule that one dog year equals seven human years is simply wrong, and it has been wrong for decades. It appears to have started as rough marketing arithmetic, dividing an average human lifespan of about 70 by an average dog lifespan of about 10, and it has stuck around because it is easy to remember.
