Working Out an Appliance's Running Cost

This calculator converts an appliance's power rating into a figure you actually care about: money. It uses the formula Cost = (Watts × Hours × Days) ÷ 1000 × Rate per kWh. Dividing by 1,000 turns watt-hours into kilowatt-hours, the unit your utility bills in, and multiplying by your local rate gives the cost across whatever period you choose. Instead of guessing which gadget is quietly inflating your bill, you can put a number on each one and act on the ones that matter. The inputs are four plain values. Watts is the device's power draw, hours is how long it runs each day, days is how many days the calculation should span, and rate is your price per kilowatt-hour taken straight from your bill.
