Type the total bill before the tip. You can use either the pre-tax subtotal or the post-tax total — both are acceptable for tipping and the difference is usually small, so pick whichever your table prefers.
Select a preset tip percentage such as 15, 18, or 20 percent, or type any custom rate to match the service and local custom. Then enter how many people are sharing the bill so it can be split evenly.
Instantly view the tip amount, the grand total, and exactly what each person owes. Adjust the tip or headcount to see the per-person figure update live, which is handy for rounding to a neat number.
A tip calculator works out the gratuity to add to a bill and, if you are dining in a group, splits the total fairly among everyone at the table. You enter the bill amount, choose a tip percentage, and say how many people are sharing, and it instantly returns the tip, the grand total, and the exact amount each person owes. It exists to take the awkward mental arithmetic out of paying at a restaurant, café, bar, or for a taxi or delivery — the moment when everyone is full, a little distracted, and nobody wants to be the one dividing by seven. Diners splitting a meal, groups settling a bar tab, and anyone tipping for a service use it to settle up quickly and without arguments. The math is simple but easy to fumble at the end of a meal. The tip equals the bill multiplied by the tip percentage and divided by 100. The grand total is the bill plus that tip. The per-person share is the grand total divided by the number of people. The only variables you supply are the bill amount, the tip percentage, and the headcount. Common tip rates are 10, 15, 18, and 20 percent, and the tool lets you pick a preset or type any custom figure, so it adapts to wherever you are and whatever the local custom happens to be. A concrete example makes it clear. Say the bill is ₹1,800, you want to tip 18 percent, and four of you are splitting it. The tip is 1,800 × 18 ÷ 100 = ₹324. The grand total becomes 1,800 + 324 = ₹2,124. Dividing that by four gives ₹531 each. Everyone pays the same round-ish amount, the tip is covered, and no one is left recalculating on a napkin. Change any input — bump the tip to 20 percent or add a fifth person — and all three numbers update at once. The tool fits plenty of everyday moments. Friends splitting dinner can each pay their fair quarter including tip, so nobody quietly underpays. A group closing a bar tab can divide it evenly rather than guessing and coming up short. Someone ordering food delivery can add a sensible gratuity for the rider, and a taxi passenger can round up the fare with a quick percentage. Travellers use it abroad to apply the local tipping norm without fumbling with an unfamiliar currency in their head, and a host organising a group meal can work out each guest's share before the bill even arrives. Because the per-person figure recalculates live, you can also see how rounding the tip up to a neat total, or adding a late-arriving friend to the split, changes what each person contributes — useful for landing on round amounts that are easy to hand over in cash. A couple of practical notes. Tipping norms vary widely by country, so use the percentage that fits the place: 15 to 20 percent is standard in the United States, while in many other countries tipping is optional or a modest rounding-up. A common question is whether to tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount; both are acceptable and the difference is usually small, so enter whichever bill figure you prefer. If people ordered very unequally, an equal split is a fair starting point that you can adjust by hand. The pitfall worth watching is a service charge already printed on the bill: many restaurants add 5 or 10 per cent themselves, and adding a full tip on top means you have paid twice for the same thing. Read the itemised lines before choosing a percentage. In India a service charge is not legally mandatory and can be asked to be removed, so check what you are actually being billed for. The calculator runs entirely in your browser, works offline once loaded, and never stores your bill details anywhere.
Tip = bill amount × tip % ÷ 100 Grand total = bill amount + tip Per-person share = grand total ÷ number of people bill amount = the total before tip; tip % = chosen gratuity rate; number of people = how many are splitting
Input
Bill ₹1,800, tip 18%, split between 4 people
Result
Tip ₹324; total ₹2,124; ₹531 each
1,800 × 18 ÷ 100 = 324 tip; 1,800 + 324 = 2,124 total; 2,124 ÷ 4 = 531 per person.
Input
Bill ₹950, tip 15%, split between 2 people
Result
Tip ₹142.50; total ₹1,092.50; ₹546.25 each
950 × 15 ÷ 100 = 142.50 tip; total 1,092.50; divided by 2 is 546.25 each.
