An attendance percentage calculator answers the question every college student worries about: am I above the minimum, and what do I do about it? Most Indian institutions require 75% attendance to be eligible to sit exams, and falling short can mean a detained semester, so students track this closely. The percentage itself is simple — classes attended divided by classes held, times 100 — but the two follow-up questions are what make this tool useful: how many classes in a row must I now attend to climb back to 75%, and, if I am comfortably above it, how many can I safely skip. This tool answers all three and works per subject as well as overall. The percentage is attended divided by total times 100. The two planning questions need a little algebra. To reach a target P (as a fraction) by attending x more classes in a row, you solve (attended + x) divided by (total + x) is at least P, which rearranges to x = the ceiling of ((P times total minus attended) divided by (1 minus P)); the ceiling is used because you cannot attend a fraction of a class. To find how many you can skip while staying at or above P, you solve attended divided by (total + x) is at least P, giving x = the floor of (attended divided by P minus total); the floor keeps you safe. If you also enter how many classes remain in the term, the tool computes your best achievable final attendance as (attended plus remaining) divided by (total plus remaining) times 100, and if even attending every remaining class cannot reach the target, it tells you plainly rather than suggesting the impossible. Here are worked numbers. If you have attended 45 of 50 classes, your attendance is 90% — comfortably above 75%, and the skip formula says you can miss up to 10 more and still hold exactly 75% (since 45 divided by 60 is 0.75). Now suppose you have attended only 30 of 50, which is 60%, below the line. To reach 75% you must attend the next 30 classes without missing any, because (30 plus 30) divided by (50 plus 30) is 60 divided by 80, exactly 0.75. If your term only has 20 classes left, the tool warns that 75% is out of reach this term and shows the best you can finish at, so you can talk to your department early rather than discovering it at the exam hall. A student mid-semester checks each subject separately, because attendance is usually tracked per subject, and spots the one class dragging their eligibility down. Someone comfortably ahead uses the skip figure to plan a trip without risking their exam eligibility. A student who fell ill and missed a run of classes uses the reach-target mode to see the recovery plan — attend the next N without fail — and whether it is even feasible in the classes remaining. A class representative uses the overall figure across subjects to advise the group before a shortage becomes a problem. The common misjudgement is assuming a couple of extra classes will fix a big shortfall; the reach-target math often shows you need a long unbroken run, and sometimes that it is not possible in the time left, which is exactly the honest answer students need early. Another is treating 75% as universal — it is the common requirement but some courses set 80% or 85%, so the threshold here is adjustable, and institutions have their own rules for medical or duty leave that no formula can capture.
